The Future

16 days to Christmas!

Today:

  1. I went to CK Tangs to do CAS- gift wrapping in efforts to raise funds for Focus on the Family.
  2. Was tiring- I spent about 5 hours standing at a booth in B1 attempting to wrap presents (I’m not very good).
  3. Was embarrassing, there were times when the presents were so horribly wrapped, and the customers were right in front of me, trying their best to be patient. Though I was smiling on the outside, as per the Christmas spirit, there were times when I was panicking and praying internally.
  4. Was blessed- customers were really nice, even when I messed up; and I managed to do some passable work.
  5. I met my primary school mate cheng ying, who is studying at MJ now. The last time we talked was approximately 7 years ago! It was great to hear that she received Christ 2 years back.
  6. I realized that its a good thing that gift wrapping is not one of my HLs.
  7. I was reminded how far behind I am in terms of getting gifts for people. Please, don’t anyone expect much out of me this year.
  8. I worked (still working) on my EE. Posting on this blog functions as a break.
  9. I thanked God for the way today worked out.

Tomorrow

  1. There is church to attend.
  2. Bags to pack.
  3. EE to work on.
  4. Seven day camp to go for.
  5. Foreign delegates to meet.
  6. Dinner with foreign delegates at somewhere uniquely Singaporean.
  7. God to trust.

In the near future, I have

  1. EE, TOK Essay, Business IA to finish.
  2. Christmas shopping to do.
  3. Theater arts scripts to work on.
  4. More gift wrapping at CK Tangs.
  5. Family to celebrate Christmas with. I can’t believe I’ve spent so much time out of the house so far.
  6. Cooking to learn. Mom’s teaching.
  7. Christmas dinner to help prepare. Am looking forward to this.
  8. Hopefully a trip around town to look at the lights.
  9. Time to cherish! The holidays are passing so fast.
  10. God to love.

Other interesting things worth doing.

  1. Running to run.
  2. Cycling to cycle.
  3. Ultimate to play.

Friday was the day we got back our results, only by God’s grace did I achieve them. He has blessed greatly, and I am much satisfied.

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

This week was very much blessed and eventful.

On Sunday evening, long after many of you die hard Harry Potter fans finished the latest book in the series, and unabashedly spoiled the ending for me, I read the first few chapters of Deathly Hallows. And what an extreme roller coaster it turned out to be. When the ride got to the big twist and turns, it struck me how J.K Rowling had managed to sneak the clues into all the books from the very start of the series- many of which I never fully understood, and in one pensive chapter enlighten all who followed the series. Going through the final moments of the epic series, I found her writing emotionally gripping and nothing short of brilliant.

The ending? I’m not going to spoil it.

Expelliarmus!

Along with that passing obsession, this week was pretty enjoyable. In Theater Arts class, we learned the basics of Kathakali dance, which was surprisingly more interesting to learn than to watch in video form. For those of you that don’t know, Kathakali dance productions go on for an average of 8 hours, and that’s loads of time to try and figure out what the codified hand signs mean.

Ultimate training on Monday was fun, the one on Thursday was fun as well but somehow also functioned as breeding ground for injuries. A couple had discs chucked in their faces, and I while playing barefoot, got my right big toe twisted to angle that it wasn’t made for, and had to shift it back to it proper place by hand. And yes, it did hurt.

Please pray for me to heal up quickly, I still want to be able to do the Charity BikenBlade.

Tomorrow, I’m probably going with the Theater Art people to watch the Greek play, Agamemnon.

That’s all for now, I’m too tired, need more sleep.

Heh. My inaugural post on my new blog.

Today was the release of examination scripts! Mmm … without going into the specifics, I can say that I’m pretty satisfied with everything that came back, save Chemistry, which was sadly the hardest one that I studied for. By God’s grace everything worked out the way it did anf I’m really thankful for it. Glory to God!

In other news, I have just received my MINDEF registration letter! The conscription order, is really nothing like all them glossy advertisements with fighter jets and tanks that try to use to get the youths hyped up about joining the army. This one is just dull, official and all business, and has the word “NOTIFICATION” (recognize how word choice changes the tone) printed all over the front .

Unlike what the exclamation mark indicates, I’m not particularly excited at this point. Firstly because, I’m feeling pretty sleepy right now; and secondly because, its going to be a long time before I really enlist for National Service, don the camouflage and get shouted at in strings of dialects that I probably won’t understand. Maybe after shooting one too many terrorists on Rainbow Six, or watching a platoon single handedly win the 2nd World War for America in a movie will I have the desire to get my hands on a real SAR-21 and my head shaved.

Anyway, Chinese tuition beckons.
