One of the FireAC guys shared this on Tuesday morning, I think: “The night sky is darkest just before the sun rises.” It was used in the context of a message regarding prayer. This phrase spoke to me very clearly.
Before Tuesday’s late night rehearsals for Love/Retreat, I was utterly depressed. The lights were holding us back, the acting was shoddy, we were all at a loss of what would happen on Friday night. Prayers? We said them. I said them. But there were times when no blessing seemed sufficient, that God would not answer. These doubts were proved wrong. At the rehearsal on Tuesday night, which lasted close to 11, there was so much improvement in the acting. The next day, the preview went spectacularly.
Whether or not it is scientifically correct that the sky is darkest just before the sun rises, I do not know. What I do know is that God brought the entire production out of the darkness, and delivered us greatly. It was in God’s grace alone that Love/ Retreat turned out the way it did. Glory to God!

… I have time to type this short post before leaving for school.
Chinese New Year celebrations over the last few days in Malaysia were quite fun, even thought I spent lots of time trying to work. Family, is always important, and worth braving the 4 hour car ride for. I’m pretty sure I ate more that I had too on more than one occasion, and it was loads of fun. Its a comforting thought that I can start training after Love/ Retreat for the upcoming races.
Okay printing’s done. Keep praying for me.

I have noticed that I’m changing, and it not for the better either. I’m sorry all of you who have met the stupid me. Time to change back. God please help me.
On a another note, the theatre arts class had a photo shoot today for the up coming production Love/Retreat. Will post photos soon. Do come for the play!
I really do have a lot on my mind, but not much heart to post it here.

It seems that when I talk to people, the conversation often strays into the holidays and school work, which would have me go on and on about how much work I have, and how hard it is, and how much I hate doing work during the school holidays, and how much… The list goes on. And I have realized, quite frankly that I’m a bit of the world’s biggest complainer. At the end of the week gone by, I can honestly say that I have been blessed much more than I have given God credit for.
Theater Arts rehearsals have been fun, I’ve been learning how to waltz. I’m learning loads, and the t.arts, all of them are a great bunch to hang out with. Its always nice going out for dinner after rehearsals, the last time we went to this Japanese place, which was cheap, but really good. But its not so much about the food, although good food is always loved, its the company that I’ve been blessed with. And its not just the t.arts, but my other friends as well, although, I have had less chances to hang out with them.
I have also went to the beach to play Ultimate with this group of people who call themselves the B.U.Ms, which I think stands for beach ultimate maniac. It was really fun, and definitely good training. Running on the sand is tough. It has been a really long time since I went for pick up, perhaps almost a year ago, with the church people at a mimosa covered field in Tanah Merah, which I think is now being converted into a condominium.
In other news, I have at least got started with my business IA and my EE. By God’s grace these things have been worked out for me.
Thank you God, for so much. Help me to fear your name.

This week was very much blessed and eventful.
On Sunday evening, long after many of you die hard Harry Potter fans finished the latest book in the series, and unabashedly spoiled the ending for me, I read the first few chapters of Deathly Hallows. And what an extreme roller coaster it turned out to be. When the ride got to the big twist and turns, it struck me how J.K Rowling had managed to sneak the clues into all the books from the very start of the series- many of which I never fully understood, and in one pensive chapter enlighten all who followed the series. Going through the final moments of the epic series, I found her writing emotionally gripping and nothing short of brilliant.
The ending? I’m not going to spoil it.
Expelliarmus!
Along with that passing obsession, this week was pretty enjoyable. In Theater Arts class, we learned the basics of Kathakali dance, which was surprisingly more interesting to learn than to watch in video form. For those of you that don’t know, Kathakali dance productions go on for an average of 8 hours, and that’s loads of time to try and figure out what the codified hand signs mean.
Ultimate training on Monday was fun, the one on Thursday was fun as well but somehow also functioned as breeding ground for injuries. A couple had discs chucked in their faces, and I while playing barefoot, got my right big toe twisted to angle that it wasn’t made for, and had to shift it back to it proper place by hand. And yes, it did hurt.
Please pray for me to heal up quickly, I still want to be able to do the Charity BikenBlade.
Tomorrow, I’m probably going with the Theater Art people to watch the Greek play, Agamemnon.
That’s all for now, I’m too tired, need more sleep.

Yesterday was Friday the 13th, but contrary to all the bad luck associated with the inauspicious day, the day went really great. The school day was pretty short, after school we had to stay back for the English paper review, that ended at about 2pm. Then I took the train to City Hall with Roshen and Nick, then changed to the other line and went to Novena. The whole point of going there was to submit my application for the Charity Bike n Blade to the elusive office of the organizing company, which is located in the office block of Novena Square. It took me a couple of wrong turns, several back tracks, and a few stops to ask for directions- all that even though I was walking, before I finally found the place.
Anyway, about the Charity Bike n Blade, my latest CAS project: I need to raise $2000 by the end of August for the beneficiaries: the Salvation Army, Pertapis Centre for Women and Girls, and Ling Kwang Youth Centre. As you have probably guessed, I have a mammoth task before me, so please please donate if I walk up to you with donation cards in hand.
Getting back to Friday the 13th, after collecting the donation cards, I went back to school to meet the Theater Arts people (T.Arts), Asyikin, Bobbie, Gua, Theo, Mary and Ivan, to go for the ACJC Drama Elective Program showcase. Wow, the ACJC drama guy were awesome; acting, dancing, singing to original pieces of work as well those that were created by themselves. After that, we had dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Holland Village with the remaining T.Arts (Asyikin and Ivan left). Dinner was a blast because of the food, but more so because of the company; the conversation went from the translation of dialect swear words to school rules, to south park, to the best play to eat Xiao Long Bao.
Now, earlier on during the week , I had a Chinese Tuition in which my teacher read an uber long article about Chinese tea to me. Inspired by what she had said about tea (no, seriously), I asked for Chinese tea at the restaurant as opposed to regular water I normally order. The tea was fine, and had unlimited refills, so by the end of the dinner, due to the nature of the food and general thirst, I had consumed about 4 glasses of tea. Which did not seem to be much a problem until I tried to sleep that night and realized that Chinese tea, like most kinds of tea, have caffeine in them!
So I finally managed to sleep later on, and got up later than planned on Saturday the 14th.
