The weekend was supposed to be a long one. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The guardsmen are on block leave you see. But as usual, it all flew by too quickly. Hmmm, perhaps it was ended up really packed.

Well, I spent most of Friday watching ER (gosh, it is such an awesome series), and preparing for the SAT Chem which was on the following morning. I also managed to meet up with Kyle, Brian, Nic and Roshen for dinner then. Saturday morning was spent testing at acjc. I also happened to chance upon the ultimate team training, and said hi to Alex. After a much need nap (I’d been in sleep debt for the last two weeks or so), I went to Sentosa to play beach ultimate, before heading to Kyle’s place for dinner with the KKK. Haha. As Kyle has posted on FB, I turned his shower ‘Saharan’ with all the sand I’d brought from the beach. SORRY! Sunday was church, then Korean lunch, and then field ultimate at Tanah Merah. Zhao and I crashed at Li Anne and May Anne’s place for awhile. Following that, I enjoyed a very satisfying dinner at Botak Jones.

After all that, today is cut-your-hair-so-you-don’t-get-extras day, and stay at home day.

Results day. I walked into the auditorium. A certain member of the senior administration was droning on and on, and going through slides of statistics for each subject. I managed to snatchat a few  phrases: “not as good as the last”, “slightly disappointed”… To start with I was unable to make head or tale of the statistics; this compounded my anxiety. But he persisted in going through the unending lists, and I couldn’t tell how the last 2 years of hard work had borne or not borne fruit or what kind of fruit was borne. The sky grew dark, and we had to come back the next day to continue the debriefing and collect our exam results. I vaguely remember some sort of hostage/ terrorist situation too. Then I woke up, realizing that in my sleep I had somehow rotated myself 90 degrees, so that my body lay almost parallel to the bed’s headboard.

What a dream. The first time I dream about the IBDP in as-long-as-I-can-remember it turns into a nightmare. Well, at least its great to know that my subconscious hasn’t lost its imagination.

16 days to Christmas!

Today:

  1. I went to CK Tangs to do CAS- gift wrapping in efforts to raise funds for Focus on the Family.
  2. Was tiring- I spent about 5 hours standing at a booth in B1 attempting to wrap presents (I’m not very good).
  3. Was embarrassing, there were times when the presents were so horribly wrapped, and the customers were right in front of me, trying their best to be patient. Though I was smiling on the outside, as per the Christmas spirit, there were times when I was panicking and praying internally.
  4. Was blessed- customers were really nice, even when I messed up; and I managed to do some passable work.
  5. I met my primary school mate cheng ying, who is studying at MJ now. The last time we talked was approximately 7 years ago! It was great to hear that she received Christ 2 years back.
  6. I realized that its a good thing that gift wrapping is not one of my HLs.
  7. I was reminded how far behind I am in terms of getting gifts for people. Please, don’t anyone expect much out of me this year.
  8. I worked (still working) on my EE. Posting on this blog functions as a break.
  9. I thanked God for the way today worked out.

Tomorrow

  1. There is church to attend.
  2. Bags to pack.
  3. EE to work on.
  4. Seven day camp to go for.
  5. Foreign delegates to meet.
  6. Dinner with foreign delegates at somewhere uniquely Singaporean.
  7. God to trust.

In the near future, I have

  1. EE, TOK Essay, Business IA to finish.
  2. Christmas shopping to do.
  3. Theater arts scripts to work on.
  4. More gift wrapping at CK Tangs.
  5. Family to celebrate Christmas with. I can’t believe I’ve spent so much time out of the house so far.
  6. Cooking to learn. Mom’s teaching.
  7. Christmas dinner to help prepare. Am looking forward to this.
  8. Hopefully a trip around town to look at the lights.
  9. Time to cherish! The holidays are passing so fast.
  10. God to love.

Other interesting things worth doing.

  1. Running to run.
  2. Cycling to cycle.
  3. Ultimate to play.

JP sits at the dinner table, which for him and his two sisters, doubles up as the study table and the occasional a war zone. He tries to concentrate on completing Chemistry Investigation 13, which was due before school closed. His mind begins to wonder, as does his eyes from the laptop. And then he sees it. For more than a century, it was sought after by many disillusioned children. Children who had been deceived by those who knew better, children who believed in the naught and nice list, children who put milk and cookies on the table before going to bed on Christmas Eve night. And there it was staring him right in the face, evidence that St. Nicholas really does ride a sleight pulled by reindeer every Christmas eve, bringing presents for the nice and lumps of coal for the naughty. Evidence that Santa is real.

His boots, they stand next to each other on the coffee table. A little smaller than you’d expect, but none the less boots of Santa.

Walking over to the living room JP picks up one of the boots and realizes that his eyes are not playing tricks on him. Santa’s boots have been recently remodeled by the some smarty pants marketing executive! Such that they are now made of clear transparent plastic. They look even more uncomfortable than JP’s old Boy’s Brigade boots! How does an over weight man travel around the world, climb up and down chimneys in boots so small and made of plastic?!

Upon closer inspection, JP realizes that there something in the boot. Thanking goodness the boots don’t smell as old as Santa, he realizes that within this festive container, lies one of the great delicacies of the palate- Chocolate. Hidden beneath its exquisite outer covering lies a wealth of infinite happiness!

Okay, who am I kidding? Its just some milk, sugar and cocoa. Back to Chemistry.
