December 2007

On this blazing afternoon, I sit at my desk in my room trying to think about the year that has passed and translate these aberrant, disorganized but happy memories into written language.

2007 has definitely been a blessed year. As I recall, on the 31st of December last year, that is 2006, I wrote an entry into my journal. It was actually the first entry into it, and I decided to keep one hence forth, but as these resolutions to keep regular journals, go (or don’t go) with me, I eventually failed to keep up with the updates. However, unlike CAS, the lack of proper documentation does not imply that the events did not occur.

Getting back to the the first entry that I made, it was really rather depressing. A horrendous way to start the new year I assure you. I wrote the entry in the last hour of 2007  and carried on writing into the new year. Somehow or other, I was in one of those moods, lamenting the small things that I had once seen as enormous gaps in the universe. I had at the end of Secondary School, looked back and regretted the way some things had turned out, I regretted that after graduating, I had not lived the full and complete life that a teenager should have had in Secondary School, in ACS (Independent). There were so many things I had not done, had not fully appreciated, and the last thing I wanted to be hit by was the IB!

The ship, that was Time, that I was sailing on, had moved too fast for me and was still accelerating despite my best efforts. The current made it impossible to turn back into the waters that I longed for. I sailed into 2007 not standing tall in the crow’s nest looking in the direction of the rising sun, but instead clinging to the stern, and looking back at the familiar past.

In retrospect, I realize that all of that was fretting over nothing. I should have been happier as I looked toward new horizons, and new beginnings. Indeed, as USS Time sails toward the edge of 2007, I turn around, as I have done many a time this year, I look in the direction the ship sailed from and see an immense beauty in creation. Though there were storms and rough waters, I still see myself as thoroughly blessed.

It is impossible to list the entire 2007 here, but here are the highlights

  1. My family. :) Doesn’t need much elaboration. I love you all.
  2. All my friends. The old ones who were with me since Primary School, and Secondary 1, and even the newest ones made this year.
  3. A good year of schooling, academics that I’m satisfied with.
  4. The chance to study theatre arts and out up a production next year.
  5. The extent to which I had opportunities to perform illusionary Magic.
  6. Cycling. My Bike. City Duathlon 2007. Charity BikenBlade 2007. Powerman Malaysia 2007. I’m looking forward to the next duathlon in 2008!
  7. Our WOW trip to Khon Kean.
  8. Sunburst Youth Camp and and all the new people I’ve met!
  9. My new computer.
  10. Ultimate Frisbee ACS. The interest group/team in school.
  11. ACS (Independent). No matter how much I complain, I’d rather be here than anywhere else. And no, I’m not trying to score points.
  12. God who has been with me all the way, whether I noticed or not.
And the list goes on. Thank you God.

JP tried to post about Christmas, but the words just failed to flow appropriately. Merry Christmas none the less.

I might be moving into boarding school next year. By God’s grace, my application has been accepted,  I have until Monday to decide.

In other news, I got a MacBook for Christmas, and now pronounce myself MacNoob. Am searching for consultants to help me.

The holidays are ending and I need to revive my blog, perhaps a proper post on New Year’s Eve.

I’m back from Sunburst Youth Camp and it was a very blessed experience.

It was really fun, and so much went on. I’m not going to attempt to post even the briefest details. Perhaps some photos at a later time would do the camp some justice.

Looks like I’ve got to start with the lists from my last post. :D

9 Days to Christmas!

16 days to Christmas!

Today:

  1. I went to CK Tangs to do CAS- gift wrapping in efforts to raise funds for Focus on the Family.
  2. Was tiring- I spent about 5 hours standing at a booth in B1 attempting to wrap presents (I’m not very good).
  3. Was embarrassing, there were times when the presents were so horribly wrapped, and the customers were right in front of me, trying their best to be patient. Though I was smiling on the outside, as per the Christmas spirit, there were times when I was panicking and praying internally.
  4. Was blessed- customers were really nice, even when I messed up; and I managed to do some passable work.
  5. I met my primary school mate cheng ying, who is studying at MJ now. The last time we talked was approximately 7 years ago! It was great to hear that she received Christ 2 years back.
  6. I realized that its a good thing that gift wrapping is not one of my HLs.
  7. I was reminded how far behind I am in terms of getting gifts for people. Please, don’t anyone expect much out of me this year.
  8. I worked (still working) on my EE. Posting on this blog functions as a break.
  9. I thanked God for the way today worked out.

Tomorrow

  1. There is church to attend.
  2. Bags to pack.
  3. EE to work on.
  4. Seven day camp to go for.
  5. Foreign delegates to meet.
  6. Dinner with foreign delegates at somewhere uniquely Singaporean.
  7. God to trust.

In the near future, I have

  1. EE, TOK Essay, Business IA to finish.
  2. Christmas shopping to do.
  3. Theater arts scripts to work on.
  4. More gift wrapping at CK Tangs.
  5. Family to celebrate Christmas with. I can’t believe I’ve spent so much time out of the house so far.
  6. Cooking to learn. Mom’s teaching.
  7. Christmas dinner to help prepare. Am looking forward to this.
  8. Hopefully a trip around town to look at the lights.
  9. Time to cherish! The holidays are passing so fast.
  10. God to love.

Other interesting things worth doing.

  1. Running to run.
  2. Cycling to cycle.
  3. Ultimate to play.
